Houston money buys serious cars
Houston has a concentration of high-end ownership that surprises people who have not sold here — energy money, medical money, and a culture with no particular interest in modesty about it. The buyer base is real. The friction is that Houston is enormous and spread out, which makes private-sale logistics painful in a way that is specific to this city.
Flood history is the defining question
No market in America has flood history scrutinised harder than Houston, and for good reason. This affects you as a seller whether or not your car was ever affected.
- If it has never flooded, being able to show that clearly is worth real money. Continuous service records, garage location and storage history all support it. Out-of-state buyers discount Houston cars by default; documentation is how you avoid paying that discount.
- If it was in a flood event but undamaged, say so and explain. A car that was moved to high ground before a storm has a story worth telling. Silence gets interpreted as the worse version.
- We do not buy flood-branded titles. Salvage, rebuilt, junk or flood brands are outside what we do, regardless of quality of repair. If you are unsure what your title says, send the VIN and we will tell you.
Heat and humidity
Gulf Coast humidity is harder on cars than dry heat. Interior trim, adhesives, convertible-top mechanisms and any exposed composite all take it. Buyers know to check. It is normal, priced, and not a barrier.
Getting it done
Send the VIN. Written offer inside the hour, held seven days, enclosed collection anywhere from Katy to Galveston at our cost, and the wire on title transfer. Cars that have not run in years are fine — we buy them where they sit.
